Brent Bowser isn’t running because he believes he has all the answers. He’s running because he knows how to listen, understand problems, bring people together and get results.

After 26 years at Honda Manufacturing, including working as a factory-side project manager, Brent learned that good decisions start with understanding the problem. His work involved bringing people together, finding practical solutions, managing competing priorities and following through until the job was done.

Brent brings that same approach to public service. Listen first. Understand the issue. Make a practical plan. Measure the results. Keep people informed.

Brent’s family has a strong connection to Ward 1. His children attend Codrington Public School, and his family regularly uses the ward’s trails, parks and public spaces. Brent lives one street outside the Ward 1 boundary, but Ward 1 is an important part of his family’s everyday life.

For Brent, representing Ward 1 means being accessible, listening to residents and bringing a practical, accountable approach to City Hall.

Rooted in family

Brent Bowser with his family and dog in Barrie, Ontario

Brent lives just one street outside Ward 1, but much of his family’s everyday life is connected to the ward. His two children, ages 12 and 10, attend Codrington Public School, where Brent regularly attends school functions and stays involved with the school community. His family walks the North Shore Trail, spends time in the neighbourhood, and spends much of his family’s everyday life in the community.

For Brent, local government isn’t abstract. It’s the safety of the community where his kids go to school, clean trails and public spaces, strong local businesses, responsible spending, and making sure Ward 1 residents have a voice in the decisions that affect their everyday lives.

Integrity first

Trust is earned through honesty, communication and follow-through. Brent believes residents deserve to know what City Hall is doing, why decisions are being made and whether promised results are actually being delivered. When something isn't working, residents deserve a clear answer and a plan to fix it.

Proven collaboration

Good local government requires people with different perspectives to work toward practical solutions. Brent has spent his career bringing people together, working through difficult problems and keeping projects moving when challenges arise. He'll bring that same collaborative, results-focused approach to representing Ward 1.

A Career Built on Problem Solving

More than 25 years at Honda Manufacturing, progressing from the production line to engineering, quality and factory-side project leadership.

1999 – 2008

From Production to Engineering & Plant Launch

Brent started on the production line before moving into engineering. His career then took him to Ohio for the AEP Engine Plant project and back to Ontario to help open Honda’s engine plant, building hands-on experience in problem solving, teamwork and major project launches.

2008 – 2020

Engine Machining Quality

For more than a decade, Brent worked in block engine machining quality, where identifying problems, finding root causes and developing effective countermeasures were part of the job. It reinforced a principle he still follows today: understand the problem before deciding on the solution.

2020 – 2024

New Model Factory-Side Project Manager

From 2020 to 2024, Brent worked in factory-side project management, supporting Engine Plant new-model projects before moving to Civic New Model. He coordinated teams and stakeholders, managed competing priorities, supported major product launches and developed recovery plans when projects fell behind. The experience reinforced the importance of clear accountability, measurable results and communicating problems before they become bigger ones.
