Here is a summary based entirely on the City of Barrie’s 2026 Election Information for Voters page. City of Barrie

Who Can Vote | Barrie Municipal Election 2026?

According to the City of Barrie, you can vote if you are a Canadian citizen, will be at least 18 years old as of October 26, 2026, are not prohibited from voting by law, and are either a Barrie resident or a Barrie property owner or tenant—or the spouse of a Barrie property owner or tenant.

You may only vote once in Barrie’s municipal election, regardless of how many voting days there are or how many properties you own or rent. City of Barrie

Make Sure You Know Your Ward

Barrie’s ward boundaries were reviewed in 2025, and the new boundaries will take effect with the new term of Council.

That means some Barrie residents may be voting in a different ward in the 2026 election. The City recommends checking the new ward boundaries before voting. City of Barrie

Make Sure You’re on the Voters List

This is an important step.

You must be on the municipal voters list to vote during the 10-day voting period.

The City has an online voter registration tool where residents can check their voter information, add their name to the list or submit changes. Acceptable identification showing your name and qualifying address is required when adding yourself to the voters list or updating your information.

The City’s online voter registration tool closes at 5 p.m. on October 26, 2026. City of Barrie

Voter information letters will begin being mailed to people on the voters list during the last week of September 2026.

Your letter contains the information you’ll need to vote, including your personal voting PIN and instructions for accessing online and telephone voting.

If you haven’t received your voting PIN by October 13, 2026, the City says you can obtain it by visiting a Voter Assistance Centre with acceptable voter identification.

If you lose your voter information letter or PIN, contact Barrie Election staff immediately so the old PIN can be deactivated. City of Barrie
