Barrie is divided into 10 wards, with each ward electing one councillor to represent residents at Barrie City Council.
For the 2026 Barrie municipal election, updated ward boundaries will be used to reflect population growth and help ensure fair representation across the city.

What Will Barrie Residents Vote For?
During the 2026 municipal election, eligible Barrie voters will have the opportunity to vote for:
- Mayor of Barrie
- Councillor for their ward
- School Board Trustee
For residents living in Ward 1, that means choosing the councillor who will represent Ward 1 at City Hall for the next term of Council.
How Can I Vote in the Barrie Municipal Election?
Voting options are determined by the City of Barrie. Depending on the voting opportunities provided for the 2026 election, these may include in-person voting on Election Day, advance voting opportunities and other voting methods announced by the City.
Because voting details can change as Election Day approaches, voters should always check the City’s official election information before making their voting plans.

How to Prepare to Vote
There are a few things Barrie residents can do ahead of Election Day.
First, confirm that your voter information is correct. Voters can register or update their information through RegisterToVoteON.ca before August 12.
You should also be prepared to provide identification showing your name and address when voting.
Finally, confirm your ward and voting location before you vote. The City of Barrie will provide additional voting and polling information as the election approaches.

The municipal election isn’t just about what happens at City Hall. It’s about decisions that affect our neighbourhoods every day.
Road safety, parks and trails, development, infrastructure, public safety, City spending and the services residents rely on are all influenced by decisions made at the municipal level.

Throughout this campaign, I’m knocking on doors and talking directly with Ward 1 residents because I want to understand what’s working, what isn’t and what you expect from your next councillor.
